The Adonis
Adonis is the Greek god of beauty and desire. The Phoenicians did believe in many gods but Adonis was one of the most highly worship. The religion is mainly belonged to women. He is renewed annually as a symbol of everlasting youth.
The Melqart
Melqart was referred to as the Lord of the Phoenician city of Tyre. As Tyrian trade and colonization expanded, Melqart became interested in Phoenician and Punis cultures from Syria to Spain. The first occurrence of the name is in a 9th-century BC inscription found in 1939 north of Aleppo in northern Syria, the "Ben-Hadad" inscription, writen by the son of the king of Arma, "for his lord Melqart, which he vowed to him and he heard his voice".
